Swiss speed-specialist Mauro Caviezel suffered a serious concussion stemming from a training accident Thursday. The 32-year-old, 2019/2020 winner of the Super-G Crystal Globe clipped a gate in training giving way to the crash. The accident comes amidst early-season success in the Super-G event with a 1st place outing in Val d’Isere (France), 2nd place in Val Gardena (Italy), and four other top-10 finishes.
Swiss Ski reports Caviezel commented on his status Sunday: “I need a bit of rest now and then I will start the rehab in the Altius Clinic and with my therapist Rolf Fischer. I will do everything I can to be at the start again this winter”.
